We often get inquires about old train sets. Maybe you had a family member who was quite into trains (as we are!) and they no longer have the interest nor the time to give the hobby. Or maybe you’ve found a trainset from your youth that is taking up space as you look to downsize.
For every one of those situations, you can be sure there is a young child interested in getting into the hobby. We know. We meet these families at our train show when they come to see our amazing layout (and like us, dream of having such a layout at home!)
Very few people are lucky enough to have a huge club layout in their basement (or living room ;-), but a great way to get kids started in the hobby is to provide them with something to get started with.
So our offer to you is if you’d like to ‘pay it forward’ by donating the model train stuff you would like out of your house, drop us a note (info@guelphmodelrailroad.ca) and tell us a bit about what you have. A photo or two would be great.
If it looks like cars/parts/stuff that we could help find a new home, we’ll take it off your hands, add/mix it with stuff we’ve received from other like-minded folks and see if we can create some starter sets to get some children started in the hobby.
Then that train set that you inherited from your grandfather, father, brother, sister (…) will take on a new life with a new family and you can know that your family’s legacy lives on with another family.
